The Seoul Arts Center announced on the 24th that starting this August, it will present the '2024 SAC World Star Series ? Piano Special' featuring four world-renowned piano masters performing solo recitals in succession.
The pianist with intense emotion, Sergey Babayan, will open the series on August 30, followed by Pierre-Laurent Aimard, known as the "textbook of contemporary music" (October 1), Bach specialist Angela Hewitt, meeting Korean fans after 10 years (December 11), and the captivating Swedish pianist Peter Jablonski (December 3).
Among them, only Jablonski will perform at the IBK Chamber Hall, while the other three pianists will perform at the Concert Hall.
Babayan, who will grace the opening stage, is known as the mentor of young pianists active on the world stage such as Daniil Trifonov, winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition, Arseny Mun, winner of the Busoni International Competition, and Kim Dohyun, runner-up. He is currently an exclusive artist of the world-renowned classical record label Deutsche Grammophon. Jablonski will perform as a special guest to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Korea-Poland diplomatic relations. This concert will particularly highlight works by 19th- and 20th-century Polish contemporary composers such as Bacewicz and Szymanowski, which may be unfamiliar to Korean audiences. Supported wholeheartedly by piano master Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jablonski rose to global stardom by recording his debut album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
