Convenience Store Industry Exclusive Pedal Black Box 2 Models on Sale
Infrared Camera Captures Under Driver's Seat
Convenience store Emart24 will be the first in the industry to sell vehicle pedal black boxes.
Emart24 announced on the 24th that it will sell two types of pedal black boxes that can check for pedal misoperation until the 26th of next month: the 'Deepfly Pedal Black Box VX5' (189,000 KRW) and the 'Deepfly Pedal Black Box VX5 + Front Camera' (239,000 KRW).
In addition, two types of general black boxes capable of front and rear dual-channel recording (DF10 32GB, DF10 64GB) will be sold for 179,000 KRW and 229,000 KRW respectively.
For black box products, customers can visit Emart24 stores, select the desired product from the barcode book available at the store, and pay. The product will be shipped free of charge to the designated location by next month 28th. A technician from the company will also visit the vehicle location to install the device free of charge. KT Membership customers can receive up to an additional 10% discount.
The Deepfly Pedal Black Box, introduced by Emart24 for the first time in the convenience store industry, records the timing of brake application by capturing the dark area under the driver's seat with an infrared camera and incorporating GPS and shock sensors.
Recently, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been promoting measures to reduce fines for automobile manufacturers that install pedal black boxes, increasing interest. The pedal black box is being discussed as a device to determine sudden unintended acceleration or driver misoperation. In fact, Deepfly, which supplies pedal black boxes to Emart24, sold more than 10,000 pedal black boxes in the first half of this year alone.
Kim Sang-hyun, head of the Emart24 Service Platform Team, said, "Since the social cost consumed in identifying the cause of sudden unintended acceleration is significant, the need for pedal black boxes is increasing," adding, "We planned this product to prevent accidents and ensure safe driving for our customers."
