Incheon Seunggicheon Safe Walking Trail Established... Yeonsu-gu and Police Station Manage with Smart Solutions

Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, is creating a smart safe walking trail along Seunggi Stream, a representative local river.

The district announced on the 24th that it secured 1.7 billion KRW in national and city funds after being selected in April for the Ministry of Science and ICT's Smart Village Solution Distribution Expansion Project to establish a safe walking trail.

Accordingly, the district plans to install 30 intelligent smart CCTVs along a 3.7 km buffer green zone around Seunggi Stream by the end of this year to respond quickly with relevant agencies in case of emergencies. The smart CCTVs use artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning technology to monitor pedestrians' movements and immediately transmit situations to the control center in the event of crimes or accidents.

The district also plans to operate a public-private consultative body called the 'Living Lab' with police and resident representatives to develop safety management measures incorporating information and communication technology (ICT).

Going forward, the district will continuously create safe walking trails within green spaces and apply smart technologies to lighting facilities and signboards to expand crime prevention environments in the area.

A Yeonsu-gu official said, "This project was initiated to prevent the increasing number of random crimes and provide residents with a safe walking environment," adding, "We will maximize safety efficiency by linking the smart safe walking trail with the intelligent control system currently established and operated within the district office."
