Geochang County in Gyeongnam hosted a delegation from Yangpyeong County to strengthen the friendly relationship between the two cities and discuss cooperation measures for mutual development.

On the 23rd, Yangpyeong County formed a delegation of nearly 20 people, including County Governor Jeon Jinseon, key senior officials, and staff, to visit Geochang County. The delegation held discussions to promote exchanges and carried out a benchmarking schedule at major tourist attractions such as Geochang Changpowon and Anti-Aging Healing Land.

Since the signing of a friendship agreement on November 8 last year, the two sides reviewed their exchange projects and discussed concrete measures to enhance cooperation and exchanges in areas such as culture, tourism, and education.

Afterward, the Yangpyeong County delegation visited Geochang Changpowon to learn about its background, current operations, and the positive impact it has on the local community by protecting the regional ecosystem while utilizing it as a tourism resource. The two sides discussed directions for mutual development, sharing their aspirations for Changpowon in Geochang and Semiwon in Yangpyeong to be designated as national gardens, and further highlighted the significance of the event by touring the Exchange Garden.

The delegation then visited Anti-Aging Healing Land, where they explored the nation's first Y-shaped suspension bridge, listened to in-depth explanations about the bridge's structural features, construction process, and the current status of tourist inflow, thereby concluding their schedule.

In his welcoming remarks, Geochang County Governor Koo Inmo said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to County Governor Jeon Jinseon and the delegation for making the precious journey from afar for this valuable relationship," and added, "Let us work together so that both cities can envision a brilliant future by sharing each other's resources and policies based on friendship and trust."

Jeon Jinseon, Yangpyeong County Governor, added, "Seeing Geochang County's natural environment and abundant tourism resources in person is very impressive and gives me many ideas and inspiration. Let us continue to cooperate actively so that both cities can grow together through ongoing exchanges."

This invitation event for the Yangpyeong County delegation served as an important opportunity to enhance friendship and mutual cooperation between the two cities, and is expected to become a turning point for joint development through the promotion of diverse and distinctive exchange projects.

Meanwhile, Geochang County and Yangpyeong County are pursuing seven exchange projects, including mutual policy proposals, cooperation for nurturing key local talent, and exchanges of cultural tourism interpreters. Yangpyeong County officials are also scheduled to be invited to a rural experience event for sister and friendship cities in the second half of the year.
