LG Electronics, Most and Longest Consecutive Wins of 'Green Product of the Year'

Top Corporate Award 'Green Masterpiece Award' Received for 5 Consecutive Years

LG Electronics announced on the 24th that it has become the company with the most awards in the '2024 Korea Green Product of the Year' chosen by consumers. It also set the longest consecutive winning record by receiving the award for 15 years in a row. This recognizes its competitiveness in eco-friendly and high-efficiency home appliances.

Fifteen LG Electronics home appliance products were selected as Green Products of the Year. This is the highest number of awards. Additionally, it became the only company to receive the award for 15 consecutive years from 2010 to this year, marking the longest winning streak. It also received the top corporate award, the 'Green Master Award,' for five consecutive years. This award is given to companies selected as Green Products of the Year for more than 11 years.

LG Electronics explained that the secret to creating eco-friendly and high-efficiency products lies in the core component technology called 'Core Tech.' Inverter technology adjusts the operating speed of motors and compressors to run the product only as much as necessary, enhancing premium appliance performance and energy efficiency. LG Electronics develops and manufactures compressors and motors in-house.

As a consumer-chosen popularity award, the Whisen Dual Cool wall-mounted air conditioner and the Dios Objet Collection top refrigerator bottom freezer refrigerator were selected.

The Whisen Dual Cool wall-mounted air conditioner uses artificial intelligence (AI) with radar sensors to detect the user's location in real-time and operates two outlets located at the front and bottom of the product according to the situation, providing optimal cooling.

The LG Dios Objet Collection top refrigerator bottom freezer refrigerator maintains a consistent temperature by analyzing refrigerator usage patterns with its 'AI Fresh Care System' function. For example, if the refrigerator is used frequently in the morning, it preemptively operates in intensive cooling mode to reduce internal temperature rise.

Other products selected as Green Products of the Year include the CordZero A9S cordless vacuum cleaner, PuriCare water purifier, Dios microwave oven, Styler, Dios dishwasher, Dios kimchi refrigerator, Whisen View air conditioner, Dios convertible refrigerator, Tromm WashTower, Tromm WashCombo, top-loading washing machine, Dios induction cooktop, and PuriCare Hydro Tower.

Ryu Jae-chul, President of LG Electronics H&A (Home Appliance & Air Solution) Business Division, said, "We are expanding high-efficiency appliances by combining differentiated core component technologies such as motors and compressors with AI," adding, "We will provide a different level of customer experience with advanced technology."

Since its inception in 2008, Korea Green Product of the Year is selected by the non-profit civic organization Korea Green Purchasing Network, 19 consumer and environmental groups across seven regions nationwide, and about 300 general consumers who evaluate all stages of a product's life cycle, including manufacturing, distribution, use, and disposal.
