Meeting of 'Task Force for Retaining Regional Hub Airline' to Be Held at City Hall at 2 PM on the 24th
Vice Mayor for Future Innovation, City Council, Air Busan Local Shareholders, Civic Groups, and Busan Chamber to Attend
The city of Busan will hold a meeting of the 'Task Force for the Retention of Regional Base Airlines' at 2 p.m. on the 26th floor of City Hall on the 24th.
This meeting has been organized to share the latest developments in the ongoing overseas review of airline integration with the local community?including the city council, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Air Busan regional shareholders, and civic groups?and to discuss strategies for retaining a regional base airline.
The meeting will be presided over by Kim Gwanghoe, Deputy Mayor for Future Innovation, and will be attended by Air Busan regional shareholders, Kim Jaeun, Chair of the City Council's Construction and Transportation Committee, representatives of civic groups, and officials from the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Representing civic groups, Park Inho, Executive Chairman of the Busan Citizens’ Coalition for Economic Revitalization, and Park Jaeyul, Executive Representative of the Busan Citizens’ Coalition for Local Autonomy and Balanced Development, will attend.
Notably, this is the first time that the City Council's Construction and Transportation Committee and civic groups are participating in the task force meeting, raising expectations for more practical discussions based on communication and cooperation to retain the regional airline.
This meeting is a follow-up to the 'City Affairs Communication Meeting' held on May 2, which included the city, city council, business community, and civic group representatives. To further strengthen communication with the local community, the city has added the City Council's Construction and Transportation Committee and civic groups to the task force.
Kim Gwanghoe, Deputy Mayor for Future Innovation, stated, "It is important for the entire local community to speak with one voice in order to retain the regional base airline," adding, "This meeting is even more meaningful as the expansion of the task force allows us to discuss retention strategies together with the city council and civic groups. Going forward, the city will actively engage with the government, Korea Development Bank, and Korean Air to ensure that the local demand for the 'retention of the base airline'?which is crucial for the successful opening of the new Gadeokdo Airport?is met."
