Parents "If Teachers Do Not Return, Students Will Refuse to Attend School in the Second Semester"

It was recently revealed that 23 students and their parents at an elementary school in Chilgok, Gyeongbuk, refused to attend school for four days, demanding the return of their homeroom teacher.

According to Yonhap News on the 23rd, 23 sixth-grade students at an elementary school in Chilgok-gun did not attend school from the 16th until the semester break on the 19th, demanding the return of their homeroom teacher, Mr. A.

Teacher A took sick leave on the 8th due to a conflict with a parent and did not return to work until the break on the 19th. He had been involved in disputes with a student's parent over the guidance and educational methods for their child.

The parents stated that if the homeroom teacher does not return, they will continue to refuse to send their children to school in the second semester as well.

The education authorities only received a report from the school principal on the 15th, a week after Teacher A took sick leave, and then began efforts to resolve the situation.

A representative from the Chilgok Office of Education explained to Yonhap News, "The school is actively coordinating its position," adding, "We are doing our best to restore harmony, including conducting group counseling programs."
