On the 23rd, the Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City elected Councilors Kim Hyung-mi, Kim Tae-jin, and Oh Mi-seop as chairpersons of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, Ethics Special Committee, and Climate Crisis Response Special Committee, respectively, during the 2nd plenary session of the 324th extraordinary meeting.
First, Councilor Kim Hyung-mi was elected as the chairperson of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, with Councilor Yoon Jeong-min elected as vice-chairperson. During their term, they will review and approve the main budget, supplementary budget, and settlement proposals.
Next, Councilor Kim Tae-jin was elected as the chairperson of the Ethics Special Committee, with Councilor Ahn Hyung-joo elected as vice-chairperson. This committee will deliberate and decide on matters related to council members' ethics and disciplinary actions.
For the Climate Crisis Response Special Committee, Councilor Oh Mi-seop was elected as chairperson, with Councilor Yoon Jeong-min as vice-chairperson. The committee will engage in activities such as responding to the climate crisis and proposing policies aimed at achieving carbon neutrality in Seo-gu, Gwangju by 2024.
Chairman Jeon Seung-il of the Seo-gu Council stated, “With the formation of the three special committees following the standing committees, the second half organizational structure is now complete. From now on, we will carry out full-fledged legislative activities for the residents.” He added, “We will listen attentively to the voices of the residents with a humble attitude and do our best to become a council that works effectively.”
