'YouTube Retirement' Karakula Sued for Defamation by Former Lover Heo Ung

YouTube Video Set to Private or Deleted, Activity Suspension Declared

Professional basketball player Heo Ung (31)'s ex-girlfriend, Ms. A, has filed a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Karakula (real name Lee Se-wook), who raised suspicions by claiming she came from a nightlife establishment background.

Attorney Noh Jong-eon, representing Ms. A legally, stated on the 23rd, "False information about Ms. A was spread on the YouTube channel," and announced that Karakula was reported to the Seoul Seocho Police Station on charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.

Earlier, at the end of last month, a truth dispute arose between both parties after Heo Ung filed a police complaint against Ms. A on charges including intimidation. At that time, Karakula posted a video featuring a whistleblower known to be an acquaintance of Ms. A, containing various claims such as Ms. A having worked at a bar.

In addition, Karakula claimed, "If (Ms. A) were an ordinary college student, how could she live alone in a luxury apartment in Cheongdam-dong, known as the most expensive area in Gangnam?" He also alleged, "She was very close to Madam Kim and drug offender Hwang, who extorted 300 million won from the late actor Lee Seon-gyun, and they were punished together for drug use." It is reported that Ms. A also filed a defamation complaint with the police against the person who appeared as the whistleblower in the video.

Meanwhile, Karakula is currently under suspicion of extorting money by threatening to reveal YouTuber Jjuyang's private life. Amid this, he made the videos on his channel 'Karakula Media' private or deleted them and suspended his activities the day before.

In the last video posted before suspending activities, he said, "All recent allegations are due to my negligence and mistakes," but firmly denied the suspicion, stating, "I did not extort money by threatening Jjuyang."

He also confessed, "There is a fact I have hidden and not honestly told you all. I received money from a person named Shoot, a coin entrepreneur currently imprisoned for fraud."

He explained, "When I was working as a luxury car dealer, I introduced another coin entrepreneur I knew to Shoot. Shoot obtained tens of millions of won in investment funds from this entrepreneur for a new business venture, and I received 30 million won from Shoot under the pretext of media response, which I used for personal purposes."

However, the new business mentioned by Shoot is known to have been a scam. Karakula added, "(Shoot) is currently incarcerated," and said, "I will not hide my guilt, will reveal all facts, sincerely cooperate with the scheduled investigation by authorities, and accept any punishment. I will live the rest of my life quietly in reflection and repentance."
