Qoo10 Affiliate Settlement Delays Continue... Sellers and Consumers Concerned

Some Travel Agencies Suspend Product Sales...Concerns Over Vacation Season Impact

The settlement delay issue that arose at Wemakeprice, a subsidiary of the e-commerce platform Qoo10, has extended to TMON and has remained unresolved for over two weeks. Among sellers, anxiety is growing, leading some to suspend sales of certain products or notify consumers of purchase cancellations for products already sold. With the summer vacation season coinciding, there are concerns about consumer damages, especially for travel products.

According to the industry on the 23rd, major travel agencies have temporarily suspended sales of travel products on TMON and Wemakeprice recently. This is a measure taken due to the delayed settlements. Although products already sold with imminent departure dates will proceed as planned, the response measures are being closely monitored as the situation develops. It has been reported that methods such as notifying customers who made payments on TMON and Wemakeprice about purchase cancellations and encouraging repurchases through other channels are also being considered. In some cases, cancellations have occurred for single products such as accommodations or airline tickets due to the unsettled payments, leading to a flood of consumer complaints on online communities.

Qoo10 Affiliate Settlement Delays Continue... Sellers and Consumers Concerned

This settlement delay issue began on the 8th at Wemakeprice. Qoo10 stated, "Some partners were unable to receive payments due to a payment system error," adding, "This was a temporary system failure that occurred during the platform's upgrade process, causing delayed settlements for about 500 partners out of a total of 60,000 partners under Qoo10's subsidiaries." Qoo10 proceeded with system recovery and completed settlements for about 400 partners by the 12th, and plans to sequentially complete payments to the remaining partners by the end of July. They also announced compensation plans for partners affected by the settlement delays.

However, even afterward, some sellers failed to meet the promised settlement schedules through individual notifications, increasing sellers' anxiety. This has also affected TMON. TMON stated in a seller notice, "Due to some sellers suspending sales, our product transactions were impacted, causing a temporary decrease in transaction volume," adding, "As a result, the payment of settlement funds has not been smooth." They expressed that although settlement payments may inevitably be delayed, they aim to normalize the situation as soon as possible. A TMON official said, "All employees are working hard to restore the situation as quickly as possible."
