Providing Safe Water Play and Rest Areas for Citizens
Yeongju City, North Gyeongsang Province, is operating seven water play facilities to help residents beat the summer heat as the peak vacation season begins.
The city announced on the 23rd that it will open the 'Munjeong Outdoor Water Playground' located at Seocheon riverside in Munjeong-dong free of charge from the 27th of this month to the 18th of next month.
The Munjeong-dong Outdoor Water Playground, which attracts over 10,000 visitors every summer, features a water play area with a depth of 60 cm and an area of 1,000 m³, as well as attractions such as a tunnel fountain and an air slide. Convenience facilities such as shaded areas, drinking fountains, and showers are also available for visitors.
The facility operates from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and admission is by advance reservation through the Yeongju City Sports Association website. The number of daily visitors is limited to 1,000.
The city will deploy safety management staff and nursing personnel to provide a safe water play environment for visitors.
Previously, on the 20th, the city began regular operation of the following facilities: Gaheng Antteul Park Water Playground, Samgakji Floor Fountain Water Playground, Punggi Lululala Floor Fountain, Aji Youth Campsite Outdoor Pool, and Donggusan Outdoor Water Playground.
At least two safety management staff are assigned to each of these five locations, and regular maintenance ensures a safe and pleasant environment for visitors. Except for the Donggusan Outdoor Water Playground, which operates until August 25, the other four facilities will be open until August 16.
The Gaheng Antteul Park Water Playground, which is available for children (closed every Monday and Tuesday), operates for two hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a one-hour break, and then reopens from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Samgakji Floor Fountain Water Playground, located in the Samgakji area of Huchon-dong (closed every Monday), operates from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Donggusan Outdoor Water Playground in Buseok-myeon (closed every Monday) operates from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (floor fountain stops from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and can accommodate up to 40 people at a time.
The Punggi Lululala Playground (closed every Monday) floor fountain operates from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (50 minutes on, 10 minutes off), and the outdoor pool at the Aji Youth Campsite is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition, the Cheonjinin Traditional Philosophy Experience Center floor fountain, which has been operating since the 9th, is open until the 20th of next month (closed on Mondays) from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and can accommodate up to 20 people at a time.
Park Namseo, Mayor of Yeongju, said, "I hope citizens can escape the heat for a while at safe water play facilities," adding, "We will do our best to manage and operate local water facilities so that they become the best vacation spots."
