At 7 a.m. that day, Sim Deok-seop, the governor of Gochang-gun, visited the dried red pepper market to encourage pepper farmers and met with local residents including pepper merchants to listen to their difficulties.
The Gochang Dried Red Pepper Market will be open every weekend and on Gochang market days (the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, and 28th of each month) from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. until November 23.

With the provision of auxiliary facilities and customer rest areas, it has become much easier for farmers and consumers to buy and sell peppers.
The dried red pepper market is a marketplace established to allow consumers to purchase high-quality peppers produced in Gochang-gun at affordable prices through direct transactions between farmers and consumers.
Gochang peppers, known as Haepung peppers because they grow while being exposed to the sea breeze from the clean West Sea, are produced in yellow soil rich in germanium and minerals, resulting in high sugar content and excellent umami flavor, making them very popular among consumers.
Governor Sim Deok-seop said, "Through the dried red pepper market, pepper-producing farmers will secure stable sales channels, and merchants and consumers will be able to purchase high-quality dried red peppers at affordable prices, establishing it as a mutually beneficial direct transaction market."
