Car crossing the crosswalk like a person... Netizens baffled by sneaky driving tactics

On the 20th, an online community called 'BobaeDream' posted an article titled "It's a pity the license plate is not visible." The author, Mr. A, shared a black box video of a passenger car he witnessed at an elementary school intersection at around 10:39 a.m. on the 20th.

The problematic vehicle seemed to intend to turn right at the red stop signal but suddenly turned the steering wheel to the left and crossed the crosswalk as if making a U-turn. Like a pedestrian, the vehicle crossed the crosswalk and then smoothly merged onto the road in the original straight direction it intended to go and disappeared. Mr. A shared the video of the vehicle showing "tricky driving," saying, "The license plate is not visible due to reflection on the window."

Netizens who saw the post reacted with disbelief, saying, "A car is crossing a crosswalk meant for pedestrians," "The driver's license should be revoked," and "How can someone think of driving like that? It's outrageous." In particular, some criticized the driver’s dangerous behavior in the school zone, saying, "What are you doing in a children's protection zone?" "Doing that in front of a school just to save three minutes," and "I feel deeply angry."

According to Article 27 of the Road Traffic Act, violating the obligation to protect pedestrians on a crosswalk results in a fine of 60,000 KRW and 10 penalty points for passenger cars. Additionally, if a passenger car fails to obey traffic safety facility signals or instructions in a children's protection zone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., a fine of 130,000 KRW and 30 penalty points are imposed. This applies every day regardless of holidays or public holidays.
