'Yellow Envelope Act' Passed Solely by the Opposition... Ruling Party Walks Out

The so-called 'Yellow Envelope Act' was passed through a unilateral vote by opposition party lawmakers, including the Democratic Party. The People Power Party opposed the bill and walked out in protest.

On the 22nd, the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee approved an amendment to the Labor Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act in a plenary session. The amendment strengthens the primary contractor's responsibility for subcontracted workers, expands the scope of labor disputes, and limits companies' claims for damages against striking workers.

During the 21st National Assembly, the bill was passed in the plenary session led by the opposition parties but was ultimately discarded after President Yoon Seok-yeol exercised his veto power, leading to a re-deliberation process in the National Assembly.

The Democratic Party plans to process this bill through the Judiciary Committee and pass it in the plenary session on the 25th.
