Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 22nd that it has secured 19.76 million KRW in national funding after being selected in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s contest for the ‘Dementia Care Service Enhancement Dementia Safe Village Excellent Leading Project.’
This contest aims to strengthen dementia services based on the local community and improve awareness of dementia.
The county was finally selected by proposing the ‘Dementia Safe Village! Smart Plus Health Plus Project.’
The county plans to distribute ‘smart watches’ to five highly participative villages among the 11 dementia safe villages in the region. These watches will allow easy monitoring of the wearer’s health status and help individuals manage their own health.
They also plan to train ‘Our Village Health Guardians,’ who will check the health of high-risk dementia residents in the villages and support cognitive learning activities. This will contribute to creating an organic dementia response environment through public-private cooperation.
County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “In a super-aged society, strengthening dementia prevention and establishing a care system are essential. We will do our best to create an environment where both dementia patients and their families can live with peace of mind.”
Meanwhile, the county is making various efforts to expand support, such as relaxing the eligibility for the ‘Dementia Treatment Management Fee’?which provides 30,000 KRW monthly and 360,000 KRW annually?from the previous ‘below 120% of the median income’ to ‘below 140%’ starting this month.
