Incheon City is joining forces with related organizations to address the school maladjustment issues faced by children of North Korean defectors.
On the 22nd, the city signed a "Business Agreement to Enhance School Adaptability of Children of North Korean Defectors" with Incheon District Court, Kookmin Bank, and Incheon Hana Center. Through this agreement, these organizations have committed to strengthening systematic support to help children of North Korean defectors adapt well to their new environment.

The city will be responsible for establishing a cooperative system among participating organizations, promoting the project, and managing follow-up care. Incheon District Court will provide legal counseling and support court visits. Incheon Hana Center will offer learning expense support and career counseling, while Kookmin Bank will handle financial support to ensure smooth project implementation.
Currently, there are 171 children of North Korean defectors enrolled in elementary, middle, and high schools in Incheon. Since 2016, the city has provided scholarships to 475 low-income children of North Korean defectors, awarding 400,000 KRW to middle school students, 600,000 KRW to high school students, and 1,000,000 KRW to university students.
Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, stated, "This agreement is meaningful in raising community interest and strengthening support for North Korean defector youth," adding, "We will continue to support children of North Korean defectors so that they can grow confidently as members of our society."
