From the 27th, Transformed into a Hot Summer Destination for 9 Days
Various Events Including 3 Mission Attractions and Water Gun Festival
Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province is transforming into a special summer destination where people can enjoy picnics and vacations in the city without having to travel far to escape the heat.
Known as a UNESCO World Heritage city and the city of Seonbi spirit, Yeongju will present the "2024 Yeongju Cool(ONE) Festival," offering a variety of fun, flavors, and relaxation under the theme "A Cool Place of Unity Where Yeongju Becomes One."
Yeongju City will transform into a popular summer getaway from the 27th of this month to the 4th of next month.
This festival, taking place for nine days from the 27th to August 4th in the Munjeon Dunchi area (in front of the Civic Stadium), will feature a wide range of experiences for all ages, including an urban water park, air bounce playgrounds, rest zones, and water gun battles.
At the "Cool Adventure Zone," which operates throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy various water activities, including three types of water attraction missions on a 57-meter-long water ride.
The attraction missions include three water activities?boating, crossing buoys, and water slides?similar to those seen on TV shows like Running Man, allowing everyone to participate and experience them firsthand.
The festival grounds will also have air bounce playgrounds divided by water depth and age for safe use. Additionally, all visitors can borrow water guns for free, adding more fun with water gun battles and water balloon tossing.
There will also be a standing area near the stage where anyone can freely dance and enjoy performances, making for an exciting festival atmosphere. Disco Pangpang and mini Viking rides will also be available.
No festival is complete without food. In the picnic zone, various food booths, including food trucks and beer stands, will be open, allowing visitors to enjoy a cool beer and diverse performances on a midsummer night.
Performances will continue every day throughout the festival. On the opening day, the 27th, spectacular performances by Haha & Skull, No Brain, Yoon Sung, and Cotton Stick will kick off the festivities.
On the 28th, the Miss Gyeongbuk Pageant will take place, featuring a mix of flash mobs, talent shows, various performances, and a dress show. On the 29th, the Sunset Gugak Concert will showcase everything from traditional to fusion Korean music, and on the 30th, a Beer Busking stage will allow visitors to enjoy drinks and music in a relaxed setting.
On the 31st, there will be a special time for Yeongju citizens to showcase their talents through local club performances. On August 1st, a Trot Concert will provide a romantic midsummer night, and on the 2nd, the first Seocheon Riverside Song Festival, featuring talented contestants who passed national preliminaries, will be held.
On the last weekend of the festival, August 3rd, an EDM party with a DJ will heat up the atmosphere, and on the 4th, the festival will conclude with a hot and cool stage under the theme "Hip Han Yeongju," featuring the popular New Jeans-nim (comedian Yoon Sungho).
This festival is expected to create unforgettable memories for citizens and tourists alike, with a variety of programs set against the beautiful night scenery of Seocheon Munjeong Dunchi, the most beloved area for Yeongju citizens.
Mayor Park Namseo said, "While many people travel to various places for vacation, Yeongju is planning and hosting a summer festival so that local residents can enjoy the festivities right here in the city." He added, "As the festival is meant to be a place of unity where Yeongju and its citizens become one, we've prepared trendy events and experience zones."
