Ulsan Office of Education to Expand University-Linked Startup Experience Programs

UNIST Collaboration, 3 Events to 8 This Year

Startup Lectures and Research Facility Tours for Middle and High School Students Until November

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsoo) is expanding its 'University-Linked Startup Experience Education' program from three sessions last year to eight sessions this year, in collaboration with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology.

The Ulsan Office of Education has organized this program to help students understand science and technology-based startup culture and to develop self-directed career development skills.

Now in its third year, the program will run until November, with around 230 students from 10 middle and high schools in the Ulsan area participating.

Previously, the Ulsan Office of Education accepted applications from Ulsan middle and high school students interested in science and technology-based startups.

According to the schedule, students visited Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology by school, attended special lectures on startups by startup company CEOs, and toured major facilities such as the Supercomputing Center, Central Equipment Center, Nuclear Research Center, and Drone Research Center laboratories.

The Ulsan Office of Education hopes that through this program, students will deepen their understanding of startups and foster entrepreneurial spirit to solve problems with innovative ideas.

Last May, the Ulsan Office of Education held a presentation on the expansion of science and technology-based startup experience education at the Industry-Academia Cooperation Center of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, targeting about 50 high school principals, and sought ways to revitalize startup experience education.

Participants agreed that, to foster innovative talent in the future digital era, it is necessary to expand entrepreneurship education and startup experience education that create new value based on a spirit of challenge and creative thinking.

An official from the Ulsan Office of Education said, "We will utilize Ulsan's excellent startup infrastructure to build cooperative relationships with local universities, public and private institutions, and companies, and support the application and expansion of entrepreneurship education in the field."
