Secured 1.7 Billion Won in Government Funding... Development of Missionary Themes and Religious Pilgrimage Tourism Products
Boryeong City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 22nd that Godaedo and Hyojado have been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's island area specialization project for next year, securing 1.7 billion KRW in national funding and other sources.
This project involves island residents forming organizations, establishing village development plans utilizing various local resources, and promoting income-generating businesses and village revitalization activities.
Godaedo and Hyojado plan to develop missionary-themed and religious pilgrimage tourism products and family leisure content, specializing in the legacy of missionary Karl Gutzlaff.
Hyoja 2-ri has also been selected as a target site for an upgrade project, and plans are in place to create an experience center themed around Treasure Island and a sea fishing site.
Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "To create sustainable island villages, we will encourage residents to voluntarily establish village development plans and revitalize the villages through income-generating projects, making them islands people want to visit and live on."
