Dobong-gu Promotes Social Welfare Workers' Treatment Improvement and Capacity Building Projects
Treatment Improvement Allowance Increased from 60,000 KRW to 70,000 KRW per Month, Expansion of Supported Facilities
Expansion of Domestic Training Support Projects, 17 Selected for Proposal Type, 16 for Contest Type to be Conducted in the Second Half
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has taken proactive steps to improve the treatment of social workers.
The district announced that it will increase the treatment improvement allowance for social workers and strengthen welfare support for them.
Starting this month, the district will raise the treatment improvement allowance for regular employees and non-regular employees working more than 40 hours per week at social welfare facilities from 60,000 KRW to 70,000 KRW per month. For employees working less than 40 hours per week, the allowance will increase from 30,000 KRW to 40,000 KRW per month.
Additionally, 10 group homes for people with disabilities, which were previously excluded from support, will now be included as beneficiaries, and 15 social workers employed there will receive the same treatment improvement allowance.
A district official stated, “Not only group homes for people with disabilities but also other target facilities will be gradually expanded through ordinance amendments in the future.”
Domestic training will also be conducted. The domestic training consists of two types: proposal-based and contest-based, and will be carried out through the executing agency (Social Welfare Council of Dobong-gu, Seoul). For small social welfare facilities lacking substitute personnel, the training period and location can be autonomously arranged to reduce the burden of work gaps. Furthermore, for new employees, the training types have been diversified considering the lack of networking among social welfare facilities.
Previously, the district received applications from social welfare facilities and selected a total of 17 people for proposal-based training and 3 teams (16 people) for contest-based training. They are scheduled to attend training in the second half of the year.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I sincerely thank the social workers who quietly work hard on the front lines. We will continue to provide various welfare benefits so that they can feel a sense of belonging and pride while working within the Dobong-gu area.”
