Providing Broadcasting Internship for Elementary Students... Opportunity to Explore Careers as PD and Announcer
Reading News Scripts and Conducting News, Training on Broadcasting Equipment and Camera Directing Techniques
Held 6 Sessions from August 7 to 9... Accepting 15 Participants per Session on a First-Come, First-Served Basis Starting August 22
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating a 'Media School' that offers elementary school students the opportunity to explore careers in broadcasting during the summer vacation.
Media School is an educational program for children interested in broadcasting jobs such as PDs and announcers. It has gained great popularity by providing everything from theoretical lessons by professional instructors to vivid hands-on field training.
The education program is well-organized into a 2-hour session. First, it explains broadcasting station tasks and the TV news production process. During practice time, participants read scripts displayed on a teleprompter at the Gwangjin-gu Office Internet Broadcasting Station to practice pronunciation. After presenting the news like a current announcer, they review the recorded footage together and share feedback.
There is also an opportunity to experience being a broadcast PD. Participants can try actual camera shooting and learn screen directing techniques. The practice takes place in the 'Media Sharing Bus,' a mobile studio equipped with various broadcasting production facilities, providing a lively experience.
The summer vacation Media School will be held over six sessions from August 7 to 9. Participation is free, and 15 participants per session will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted online on the 22nd via the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "This is a great opportunity for students on summer vacation to discover new aptitudes and career paths," adding, "I hope they grow their future dreams by experiencing the wonderful work of a broadcasting station."
