On the 17th, a special lecture titled "Imagination Comes from the Field, Disaster Imagination" was held in the auditorium on the 4th floor of Dongdaemun Fire Station, attended by about 100 volunteer firefighters from the local area, with Dongdaemun District Mayor Ilhyeong Lee delivering the lecture.

Mayor Lee, who took the podium, expressed his gratitude to Dongdaemun Fire Station and the volunteer firefighters who worked hard to extinguish the fire at the Dongdaemun Environmental Resource Center that occurred last May, and then gave a lecture on measures to prevent ongoing social disasters.

During the lecture, Mayor Lee emphasized that for efficient disaster response, "it is necessary to identify problem factors on site and establish practical safety management measures," and "we must continuously imagine and consider risk factors."

He also announced that the 8th elected administration is promoting the district government under the slogan "Pleasant Dongdaemun, Safe Dongdaemun, Transparent Dongdaemun," and is turning imagination into reality by advancing projects such as the creation of a knowledge flower garden in Jeonnong-dong, the construction of the Jangandong Residents' Happiness Center, and the selection of the Cheongnyangni Station area as a space innovation district, stepping forward as a future city Dongdaemun-gu.

The volunteer firefighters who attended the lecture shared their thoughts, saying, "It was a meaningful time to approach the potentially heavy topic of disaster from various perspectives, and also to learn about the future of Dongdaemun-gu."

The Dongdaemun Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade is a volunteer organization established under Article 37 of the Fire Services Act. Formed in 1986, it currently has 203 volunteer firefighters who assist fire officials in rescue, first aid, and recovery activities during fires and disasters, and carry out various volunteer activities for prevention.
