Biden Camp: "Trump Rambled for Over an Hour... Chasing an Extreme Vision"

"Former President Donald Trump rambled on for well over an hour."

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign criticized former President Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on the night of the 18th (local time), saying he "sought to find problems in America rather than offer solutions."

The Biden campaign stated in a press release, "Former President Trump never mentioned 'Project 2025,'" adding, "He did not acknowledge the pain inflicted on American women by overturning the Roe v. Wade decision that recognized women's abortion rights. He also did not mention plans to pardon those involved in the January 6 Capitol riot."

They further criticized, "Ultimately, it was Trump who destroyed our economy, stripped away rights, and shattered middle-class families," and said, "Now he wants the presidency with a far more extreme vision of where he will lead this country."

Project 2025, expected to be central to Trump's second-term policy agenda, is a kind of policy proposal released by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation and created by former Trump administration officials and aides. The main points known so far include limiting freedom of speech as stated in the Constitution, abolishing LGBTQ rights, reducing medical and healthcare services, and concentrating federal government powers in the presidency. However, former President Trump has distanced himself from these contents amid growing controversy, claiming he "knows nothing" about them.

The Biden campaign said, "Trump's Project 2025 agenda would be the greatest attack on our personal freedoms and way of life in modern American history," emphasizing, "President Joe Biden is presenting a different vision. He is running to protect democracy, not weaken it."

They continued, "An America that creates opportunities for everyone while ensuring the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share. This is the future that President Biden and millions of Americans believe in," urging, "We must defeat Trump and his Project 2025 agenda this November."

Meanwhile, former President Trump officially accepted the nomination and declared his third presidential bid on the final day of the Republican National Convention ahead of the November election. Standing at the podium with a bandage on his ear, he emphasized American ‘unity’ by saying, "We will either rise together or fall," while externally proclaiming ‘America First’ policies summarized by protectionism. This speech was Trump’s first public address since the shooting on the 13th.
