On the night of the 18th (local time), the final day of the Republican National Convention, Trump delivered his acceptance speech at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, stating, "I got along well with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of North Korea's State Affairs Commission."
He said, "The media hated that. They asked how I could get along with him," and claimed, "Getting along with someone who has many nuclear weapons is a good thing." He also emphasized, "I got along well with them, and we stopped North Korea's missile launches."
The former Trump administration referred to North Korea's recent nuclear missile provocations, saying, "(If I win the election) when I meet them again, I will get along well with them," adding, "He (Kim Jong-un) will probably want to see me." Previously, Trump held North Korea?U.S. summits with Chairman Kim during his tenure.
Additionally, Trump blamed the Biden administration for the Ukraine war and the Gaza conflict, stating, "Our opponents (the Democrats) inherited a peaceful world but turned it into a world of war."
This acceptance speech was his first public address since being shot at during a campaign event in Pennsylvania on the 13th.
