Launching Low-Sugar Products in Line with the Healthy Pleasure Trend
Applying 100% Recyclable Circular Recycling PET
Ottogi announced on the 19th that it will introduce two types of 'Low Sugar Meat Sauces' with reduced sugar content in line with the growing trend of 'Healthy Pleasure,' which promotes enjoyable health management.
The new products include ▲Low Sugar Donkatsu Sauce and ▲Low Sugar Seasoned Chicken Sauce, both characterized by significantly reduced sugar content while maintaining the original sauce flavors.
The Low Sugar Donkatsu Sauce uses fruits and natural spices to create a sweet and rich flavor, with a sugar content of 3.3g and calories of 30 kcal per 100g. This is approximately 86% and 73% lower, respectively, compared to the average of the top three market-leading products.
The Low Sugar Seasoned Chicken Sauce, made by blending tangy tomatoes and various domestic vegetables, contains 4.5g of sugar per 100g, reducing sugar by about 85% compared to the average of the top three market-leading products. The calorie content is 70 kcal per 100g, reduced by about 72%. Both new products are released in small portions of around 300g, making them easy to enjoy for single-person or two-person households without burden.
Both products apply 'Circular Recycled PET (CR-PET),' co-developed by Ottogi to reduce environmental impact. Circular recycling is a chemical recycling method that breaks down waste plastic to the molecular level and reuses it as raw material, achieving 100% reuse of discarded PET. This can reduce annual plastic usage by about 16 tons and lower carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to regular PET while maintaining existing safety levels.
Meanwhile, with this product launch, Ottogi's Low Sugar sauce lineup now includes four types: ▲Low Sugar Ketchup, ▲Low Sugar Honey Mustard, ▲Low Sugar Donkatsu Sauce, and ▲Low Sugar Seasoned Chicken Sauce. The Low Sugar Ketchup, introduced in November last year, retains the sweet and tangy ketchup flavor while reducing sugar content to 4.4g per 100g, containing only sugars derived from tomatoes.
An Ottogi representative said, “As the trend of sugar reduction spreads and more sauces with reduced sugar content are being launched, we are introducing two popular meat sauces as Low Sugar products. We will continue to offer various sugar-reduced products for consumers who care about health and diet management.”
