North Korea Again Releases Sewage Balloons... Moving in Northern Gyeonggi

On the 18th, North Korea released filth balloons toward South Korea, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced.

In a text message distributed to reporters covering the Ministry of National Defense that afternoon, the Joint Chiefs stated, "The current wind direction is westerly, and the filth balloons are moving toward the northern Gyeonggi region." They added, "We urge the public to be cautious of falling debris, and if you find any fallen balloons, please do not touch them and report to the nearest military unit or police station."

Earlier, Kim Yo-jong, deputy director of the North Korean Workers' Party, claimed on the 14th and 16th of this month that anti-North leaflets (ppira) were found in North Korea, threatening the release of filth balloons by saying, "You must be prepared to pay a dreadful and shocking price."

This is the first time in 22 days since the 26th of last month that North Korea has released filth balloons toward South Korea, marking the eighth time this year. Last month, North Korea released filth balloons for three consecutive days from the 24th to the 26th.
