Kim Panki, Director of the Gyeongnam East Branch of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, conducting on-site management at a workplace to prepare for summer heatwaves.
The Samyang Foods Miryang Plant is a food manufacturing facility that produces up to 670 million units of 29 types of noodles and sauces annually.
This on-site management was carried out to emphasize the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of risk assessments with labor-management participation and to urge the establishment and implementation of a safety and health management system to prevent serious accidents, especially as the demand for "Buldak Bokkeum Myeon," which now accounts for half of the plant's production, is rapidly increasing due to the K-Food boom.
In particular, the activities to promote health and prevent cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases caused by long working hours were checked, and the rest facilities for outdoor workers, such as forklift drivers who are exposed to extreme heat, were inspected.
Kim Panki, head of the Gyeongnam Eastern Branch, stated, "As the world is enthusiastic about 'Buldak Bokkeum Myeon,' I ask that the workplace put as much passion into worker safety," and urged, "Please do your utmost to prepare for heat waves and to establish and implement a safety and health management system."
