Gwangjin-gu Expands Free Screening Eligibility to Prevent Metabolic Syndrome Up to Age 69

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has expanded the eligibility for free metabolic syndrome screening from ages 20-64 to 20-69 in response to the aging population trend.

The Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center operates a "Metabolic Syndrome Management Center" on the 3rd floor of the government building. It provides health management services to prevent chronic diseases, and the age criteria have been relaxed so that more residents can benefit.

After making a reservation in advance, visitors can receive health checkups and one-on-one personalized consultations. A basic survey on daily lifestyle habits is conducted first, followed by measurements of blood, blood pressure, and body composition to assess health status.

After the physical examination, professional counseling continues. Based on the test results, medical staff, exercise managers, and nutritionists provide appropriate dietary and exercise guidance. Residents classified as high-risk groups are also supported with regular in-depth consultations.

The center operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. It is also open on the second Saturday morning of every month. Reservations can be made by contacting the Gwangjin-gu Metabolic Syndrome Management Center.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, "Since metabolic syndrome can be prevented with proper lifestyle habits, we have expanded the age range for support programs. We are offering free tests and consultations, so we hope many people participate and enjoy a healthy daily life."

Metabolic syndrome refers to a condition where risk factors such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes occur simultaneously in one person. For prevention, it is important to detect symptoms early through screening and establish healthy habits.
