West Sea Coast Guard Agency Attends Red Tide Control Drill... Protecting Coastal Waters Safety

Support Provided by Aircraft and Control Boats for Red Tide Prevention Drill Led by Jeonnam Provincial Government

The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim In-chang) announced on the 18th that it participated in a red tide control simulation drill organized by the Jeonnam Provincial Government to prevent damage to aquaculture farms caused by red tides during the summer and to strengthen cooperation in control activities.


The drill was conducted in the area from Nokdong Port to Wudu offshore in Goheung County, proceeding in the order of red tide monitoring, loess spraying, emergency control, and cage relocation. The West Sea Coast Guard Agency supported the operation with one fixed-wing aircraft and one control vessel to enhance response capabilities.

Kim In-chang, Chief of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency, stated, “We will solidify cooperation with related organizations and strengthen monitoring activities to minimize fishermen’s damage caused by red tide occurrences,”

and visited the Nokdong Police Substation to inspect coastal area safety.


After checking the substation’s dispatch readiness and the condition of rescue equipment, Chief Kim said, “On the occasion of Coastal Safety Day on the 18th, we conducted frontline field inspections. As the opening of beaches and increased leisure activities raise the risk of accidents, we will ensure thorough preparation and inspection so that there is no negligence in public safety.”
