Jungnang-gu Holds Emergency Flood and Wind Damage Situation Assessment Meeting

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held an emergency flood and water damage situation inspection meeting on the morning of the 18th to minimize damage to residents caused by heavy rain. Following an on-site inspection of the Myeonmok Rainwater Pump Station and other locations on the 17th, the administration is focusing its efforts to ensure perfect preparedness against flood damage.

At the meeting, Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi received reports on the overall response status, including whether there were any damages to residents, and whether rainwater inlets, rainwater pump stations, drainage gates, and disaster warning facilities were operating normally, urging thorough management.

He instructed thorough patrols and control of vulnerable facilities and areas such as slopes, steep hillsides, and retaining walls, and requested meticulous inspection and maintenance of facilities including roads, underground passages, roadways, and construction sites.

Additionally, he ordered immediate garbage collection and strict prohibition of garbage disposal to prevent accidents caused by trash being blown away by strong winds accompanying the heavy rain.

Currently, Jungnang-gu is maintaining an emergency duty system elevated to level 2 with 197 employees on duty. Furthermore, 30 rainwater pumps are being operated alternately at four pump stations, including the Myeonmok Rainwater Pump Station, and access to the entire section of both directions of Dongbu Expressway, major hiking trails, and rivers has been restricted.

The Jungnang-gu Flood and Water Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is operating 24 hours a day and is thoroughly preparing for damage prevention. In addition, they are patrolling flood-prone areas and facilities frequently to minimize inconvenience to residents.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “Ensuring the safety of residents is our top priority, and all staff are working together with full effort to minimize damage. We ask residents to familiarize themselves with the heavy rain preparedness guidelines and to exercise special caution to prevent safety accidents.”
