Criticism of Na Kyungwon's Request to Drop Prosecution in Fast-Track Case
"A Temporary Fandom Is Like an Act That Could Disappear Anytime"
Kim Taeheum, Governor of South Chungcheong Province, directly criticized Han Donghoon, the People Power Party’s candidate for party leader, regarding Han’s revelation that Na Kyungwon had asked for the withdrawal of the Fast Track case indictment, saying, “I cannot contain my indignation at such frivolity.”
On the 18th, Governor Kim released a press statement titled “Kim Taeheum’s Thoughts,” saying, “I have endured the chaos of a party convention that should be presenting a vision for the future, but now I am so angry that I must say something.”
He continued, “In 2019, the mixed-member proportional representation election law and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials Act, which the Liberty Korea Party fiercely resisted, were evil laws pushed as part of the left-wing’s long-term rule plan,” explaining the situation at the time.
Previously, at a People Power Party leadership debate held by CBS the day before, Han had revealed, “Na Kyungwon asked me to withdraw the indictment for the Fast Track case.”
Governor Kim stated, “At the time, Liberty Korea Party lawmakers fought desperately in the National Assembly, arguing that the Fast Track was invalid both in substance and procedure,” and emphasized, “I myself served as the chair of the Special Committee to Stop Leftist Dictatorship and even shaved my head with fellow lawmakers to protest its injustice.”
Kim continued, “I am shocked and angered by the mindset underlying Han’s remarks,” and reminded, “While you enjoyed your prime years as a prosecutor under the Moon Jaein administration, we were fighting desperately against the leftists in the National Assembly.”
He added, “This incident was an act of dictatorial violence by the leftist-dominated parliament, and it is an issue where one could demand correction through criminal procedure law regarding the unjust indictment.”
Kim criticized Han, saying, “Watching you boast about not complying with an unjust request, I question your sense of responsibility to the conservative community and your empathy for conservative values.”
He also expressed regret, stating, “Watching your behavior, I feel a dark shadow is being cast over the future of the People Power Party,” and demanded, “Han Donghoon must clarify his position and apologize to those still suffering from the Fast Track trial.”
He concluded, “A temporary fandom is like smoke that could disappear at any moment.”
