"Don't Fall Behind"…Office Workers Deeply Engaged in Studying AI

AI Usage Expands Across All Work Areas
High Enthusiasm for AI Training Courses

Office workers have become deeply engrossed in studying artificial intelligence (AI). This is because the scope of AI utilization is expanding across various tasks, even outside of development teams. Among office workers, there is even concern that those who do not learn AI may fall behind in their work. As general employees' interest in AI utilization grows, edutech companies providing related education have also experienced a boom.

On the 21st, AI education solution company ELICE Group announced that the number of employees participating in AI education this year increased by about 42% compared to the previous year. They explained that with the recent rise in the use of generative AI, even those not in development-related roles feel the need to learn AI, leading to an increase in companies adopting AI education for all employees.

For developers, education on large language models (LLM), a recently emerging AI service, is increasing. This is because companies are developing LLMs themselves or using them to build in-house chatbots, among other applications. ELICE Group expects that if this trend continues, the number of people completing LLM education this year will increase about 13 times compared to last year due to the sharply rising demand for LLM education.

Among employees who received business-to-business (B2B) training from online job training provider TeamSparta this year, 66% took AI education. Of these, 80% received training related to 'generative AI.' TeamSparta conducts AI competency enhancement and digital transformation (DX) education for employees of various industries, including Kakao, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Card, JoongAng Holdings, Hanssem, Daesang Corporation, and Daewoo Construction.

In particular, TeamSparta explained that inquiries about training on how to utilize generative AI by job group and role, such as 'Generative AI Utilization Training for Sales Positions' and 'Generative AI Training for PR Teams,' have recently increased. This indicates that the movement to introduce AI into work regardless of job group, even without directly handling the technology, is gaining momentum. A TeamSparta official said, "To improve education satisfaction, we are developing optimized AI education modules not only for developers but also for marketing, sales, planning, HR, and management support roles, and we are continuously enhancing the curriculum so that the learned content can be applied in practice."

At edutech startup Fast Campus, AI-related lectures have also become a key driver of company growth. The number of AI lecture transactions surged about 272% compared to the previous year, and this year, they have newly opened 60 AI lectures, currently offering over 110 lectures. These cover a wide range from practical use of various AI tools including ChatGPT to projects and courses for employment.

The reason for the AI study craze among office workers is that the practical use of AI in work is gradually increasing. Receiving help from generative AI in everyday tasks such as report writing has become a familiar sight in many companies. According to a survey conducted by Deloitte Korea Group in the first half of this year targeting over 10,000 corporate employees across 13 Asia-Pacific countries, 43% responded that they use generative AI in their work. Jo Myung-soo, partner of Deloitte Korea Group's consulting division, said, "Companies can actively adopt and utilize generative AI to improve work efficiency and strengthen competitive advantage."
