Kuksundang announced on the 18th that the sales volume of 'Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli' exceeded 12 million bottles over the one-year period from July last year to June this year, surpassing an average monthly sales volume of 1 million bottles. This is the first time that the average monthly sales volume of Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli has exceeded 1 million bottles, representing a 32.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Kuksundang attributed the strong sales performance of Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli to the renewal carried out in 2021. The product's formulation was improved by undergoing three fermentation processes to further enhance the smooth flavor of the makgeolli, improving both taste and quality. The packaging was changed to environmentally friendly transparent PET bottles, and a perforation line was applied to the label for easy separation and recycling. A full-body label was applied to the PET bottle to prevent quality degradation caused by exposure to light.

It was also explained that offering both can and PET bottle products helped provide consumers with a wider range of choices. In particular, the Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli can, with its portability and small size, aligns with recent alcohol trends such as home drinking and solo drinking, expanding the TPO (time, place, occasion) for makgeolli and contributing to the expansion of various sales channels. Additionally, the popularity of flavored makgeolli products launched based on Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli and collaborations with popular brands also helped increase sales.

Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli was launched in 1996 based on the technology of Kuksundang’s ‘Bio Tak,’ the first canned makgeolli in Korea, which was released in 1993. The canned product was released first, followed by the PET bottle product, broadening consumer choices. It can be distributed for up to one year from the manufacturing date.

A Kuksundang official stated, "Since its launch in 1996, Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli has pioneered the sterilized makgeolli market in Korea and contributed to market expansion by offering diversity such as canned and PET bottle products. Products based on Kuksundang Rice Makgeolli that collaborate with popular brands provide unique consumer experiences and significantly contribute to expanding the makgeolli market among the MZ generation."
