[Click eStock] "Abaco Proves Competitiveness in Secondary Battery Equipment... Forecasts Record High Performance"

Hana Securities analyzed on the 18th that Abaco's competitiveness in secondary battery equipment has been proven, and maximum performance is expected.

Kim Seong-ho, a researcher at Hana Securities, stated in a report on the same day, “Abaco completed the supply of roll press/slitter equipment to domestic cell makers in July,” and explained, “The roll press equipment is an essential electrode process device that increases the electrode plate density by applying pressure to the active material and current collector through two rollers. Abaco has a reference for completing the development of roll press equipment for cathode/anode materials.”

He added, “Abaco has been focusing on secondary battery logistics automation equipment and has continuously secured orders for LG Energy Solution's global joint venture factories, especially accumulating orders exceeding 140 billion KRW for Ultium Cells plants 1 and 2,” and analyzed, “This roll press equipment is technically more difficult compared to other equipment, so it is expected to positively impact the company's overall profitability in the future. Abaco and domestic Company A are representative suppliers in Korea.”

Furthermore, he emphasized, “This equipment delivery is presumed to be for a pilot line at the customer's domestic factory, and attention should be paid to the potential expansion of roll press equipment in the future,” and added, “Although there is volatility depending on the expansion schedules of domestic cell maker companies, the electrode process accounts for more than 30% of the total investment in the secondary battery process, and supplying roll press equipment within this process is essential.”

He continued, “Even with the transition from 2170 to 4680 batteries, the introduction of roll press equipment in the process is required, so the supply of Abaco's roll press equipment is expected to continue expanding.”
