The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Head: Jo Young-ho) announced on the 17th that it is focusing on managing reservoir water levels by setting the reservoir limit water level at 75-85% during the flood season.

This is because this year's monsoon pattern involves sudden, localized heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of overflow even with small amounts of rain when the reservoir water level is high.
Accordingly, the Jeonnam Headquarters has been maintaining high-intensity water level management since early last month, before the flood season.
Centered around the disaster situation room, they maintain a close cooperative system with local governments for reservoir water level control measures such as emergency sluice gate openings and installation of portable siphons, as well as rapid response in emergencies.
At the same time, all branch offices within the jurisdiction frequently check the operation status of drainage pumps, repeatedly inspect reservoir embankments, and verify the removal of sediment from drainage channels.
Each region, together with related organizations, closely monitors on-site conditions, continues ongoing surveillance and inspections, and strives for rapid response in case of dangerous situations.
Jo Young-ho, head of the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “Given the concerns about unavoidable situations such as sudden heavy rain due to climate change, we will focus on responding to heavy rain with proactive and thorough preparedness, and in case of emergencies, we will do our best to protect the lives and safety of the public through rapid response by mobilizing all available resources.”
