Volunteer Applications Flood in for National Sports Festival and National Para Games in Gimhae ... Recruitment Completed

Achieved 200% Participation Rate Compared to Target

The recruitment of volunteers to participate in the 105th National Sports Festival and the 44th National Para Sports Festival, which will be held mainly in Gimhae, Gyeongnam this October, has been completed.

The city of Gimhae announced that it received volunteer applications for both festivals from May 22 to June 30 under the slogan, "Everyone's Sports Festival, Powered by Volunteers!"

A total of 3,836 people applied?2,018 for the National Sports Festival and 1,818 for the National Para Sports Festival?far exceeding the recruitment target of 3,000.

By gender, 24% of applicants were male and 76% were female. By age group, 21% were in their 20s, 1.7% in their 30s, 4.5% in their 40s, 22.7% in their 50s, and 50.7% were aged 60 or older.

The oldest applicant was 83 years old, while the youngest was 18.

Officials from Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, and the Gimhae City Volunteer Center are expressing their gratitude to applicants as they complete the recruitment of volunteers for the two major sports events to be held in October.

After passing a selection process by job category, the volunteers will participate in basic training, leadership training, meetings, and an inauguration ceremony. They will then provide support for the opening and closing ceremonies, assist with operations at the main situation room and competition venues, provide guidance at stadiums, support promotional activities, offer one-on-one assistance for participants with disabilities, and help with doping tests.

Mayor Hong Taeyong said, "I am grateful for the passionate interest and participation shown by so many citizens in the recruitment of volunteers for both festivals. I hope that, through the strength of Gimhae as a city of volunteers, we can create a National Sports Festival that inspires dreams, hope, and emotion for the athletes and visitors coming to our region."

The 105th National Sports Festival will be held from October 11 to 17, and the 44th National Para Sports Festival will take place from October 25 to 30, with Gimhae as the main host city and events spread throughout Gyeongnam.

The National Sports Festival will feature 16 sports at 22 venues across the province, centered on the main venue, Gimhae Sports Complex. The National Para Sports Festival will include 9 sports at 11 venues.
