Xperix (CEO Yoon Sang-chul) announced on the 17th that its newly developed ‘next-generation ID authenticity verification terminal’ is being supplied to local governments nationwide and is receiving positive responses.
The terminal supplied this time is an all-in-one device that not only reads ID cards such as resident registration cards and driver’s licenses but also includes fingerprint recognition. It was developed by applying Xperix’s unique optical design technology and fingerprint recognition algorithms. Since April, it has been designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as an ID authenticity verification terminal and has begun to be supplied to city, county, and district offices as well as administrative welfare centers nationwide. Among more than 220 local governments across the country, supply has already been completed to some local governments. With the amendment of the Resident Registration Act, mobile resident registration cards will be issued starting this December, and on-site users are giving favorable reviews to Xperix’s all-in-one product that can handle QR scanning in one area.
Xperix is a global biometric recognition and e-ID specialized company with its own technology and domestic production infrastructure. It was better known overseas than domestically and is currently expanding its domestic business based on global business experience. For several years, it has expanded into the civil service device business by supplying 10-fingerprint scanners for resident registration card issuance to domestic local governments. By supplying the authenticity verification terminal this time, it is expected to further expand its influence in the peripheral device market for civil service work in the future.
Lee Sang-hoon, Executive Director and Head of the ID Business Sector, stated, “We expect continuous growth in demand for ID authenticity verification terminals capable of reading existing ID cards and mobile IDs.” He added, “With the introduction of mandatory identity verification systems in hospitals and pharmacies, demand for ID authenticity verification is expected to increase. Since there is demand in both medical and financial sectors, we will actively respond to the market by supplying new solutions.”
