Beauty platform Hwahae records quarterly profit with 20.8 billion KRW in Q2 sales

Record-Breaking Performance Achieved in Q2

Birdview, the operator of the beauty platform Hwahae, announced on the 17th that it achieved the highest quarterly sales ever in the second quarter of this year and successfully returned to profitability for the first time in four years.


Hwahae is a beauty platform with 11.5 million users and 8.6 million review data on Hwajampum and other products. Based on this, Birdview's consolidated sales in all business sectors in the second quarter of this year recorded 20.8 billion KRW, an 81% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit also reached about 1 billion KRW during the same period, achieving profitability.


In particular, sales in the advertising business sector increased by 37% compared to the previous year. Advertising revenue through display and emblem rose by 83% and 72% respectively compared to the same period last year, driving the increase in this quarter's performance.

In addition, commerce sales continued steady growth due to the expansion of direct purchase products. Direct purchase sales increased by 117% compared to the same period last year, and direct purchase transaction volume also jumped 88% during the same period.


Subsidiary beauty brand Bplain also performed well domestically and internationally. Following the record highest sales in April, it showed monthly sales growth for three consecutive months until June. Bplain has expanded into more than 20 countries including China, Vietnam, and France, and overseas sales increased by 173% compared to the same period last year, continuing its profitability improvement trend.


Hwahae plans to maintain the upward trend in business sector performance and focus on cost efficiency in the second half of the year to achieve annual profitability this year. Lee Woong, CEO of Birdview, said, “We are strengthening our role as a beauty brand acceleration platform that connects the growth of consumers and brands, and the results of this are becoming visible. All business sectors of Hwahae are growing steadily and continuously, and considering that the cosmetics market’s peak season is the fourth quarter, we expect to achieve annual profitability this year.”
