Seoul City Strengthens Economic Cooperation with Chungcheongnam-do... Builds 3,000 Households in Gold City

Activation of Win-Win Tourism and Spread of Garden Culture and Design in 6 Fields
Agreement Signed to Strengthen Friendly Exchanges and Establish Boryeong City as a Gold City
Agreement on Construction of 'Win-Win Housing Model' Gold City to Prepare for Super-Aged Society

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and Chungcheongnam-do have signed a business agreement to strengthen exchanges in the economic sector and agreed to foster practical cooperation in tourism and the horticulture industry. In particular, they decided to build 3,000 units of 'Gold City,' a Seoul-local win-win circular housing project in preparation for a super-aged society.

On the 17th, Seoul announced that Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office and signed the 'Business Agreement to Strengthen Friendly Exchanges for Mutual Development' with Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungcheongnam-do.

Seoul and Chungcheongnam-do have maintained continuous exchanges since signing a friendly exchange agreement in 2013, including direct markets for agricultural, fishery, and specialty products, and cultural and artistic fields. The main points of this additional cooperation are ▲strengthening exchange cooperation to revitalize Seoul-Chungnam win-win tourism ▲joint cooperation to spread garden culture and foster the horticulture industry ▲activation of urban design policy exchange ▲promotion of hometown love donation system ▲cooperation and exchange for data-based administration activation ▲promotion of Seoul-Chungnam youth historical and cultural exchange projects, covering six areas.

First, Seoul and Chungcheongnam-do will strengthen exchange cooperation in the tourism sector to establish a foundation for win-win tourism and enhance regional tourism competitiveness. They plan to operate a 'regional tourism antenna shop' in areas densely populated by Seoul tourists to provide a space where Chungnam tourism content can be promoted, exhibited, and experienced.

They will also cooperate to spread garden culture and foster the horticulture industry. The core is cross-promotion of garden fairs and other events held in both places and sharing infrastructure. Seoul will also establish a foundation for Chungcheongnam-do to benchmark Seoul’s design policies and promotion projects. Additionally, they plan to explore cooperation methods to jointly discover and utilize customized regional data and local statistics.

In particular, they reached an agreement to create 'Gold City,' a 'Seoul-local win-win housing policy model.' 'Gold City' is a new housing policy designed to prepare for future demand by providing housing in local areas equipped with nature and infrastructure to elderly retirees and other Seoul citizens, while supplying the homes they own in Seoul to youth or newlywed couples. Boryeong City was selected as the project site. After selecting the optimal location considering natural environment, transportation, and medical institutions, related organizations such as Chungnam Development Corporation and Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation will cooperate to promote the Gold City project. Through this project, about 3,000 units, similar in scale to Samcheok City, will be built in Boryeong City.

Meanwhile, Seoul has decided to urgently support 100 million KRW in disaster relief funds to help residents in areas such as Seocheon County, Chungnam, who suffered significant human and property damage due to recent heavy rains, to quickly return to their daily lives. A Seoul city official stated, "We will continuously communicate with the affected areas and cooperate as much as possible."
