Gyeonggi Province is promoting a project to support the establishment of smart factories and consulting for 76 companies within the province to strengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.
The smart factory establishment project is a campaign pledge of the 8th local government administration, featuring a lower self-payment ratio compared to government projects (50% → 30%) and providing support tailored to the company’s site through consulting, resulting in high satisfaction among beneficiary companies.
A total of 343 companies applied for this project, recording a high competition rate of 4.9 to 1.
Gyeonggi Province increased the number of supported companies from the original 70 to 76, recognizing the high demand from small-scale micro-enterprises that are in the blind spots of smart factory establishment.
Gyeonggi Province will provide customized support through coordination with selected small and medium-sized enterprises, resolving on-site difficulties, managing schedules and processes, and analyzing and inspecting performance.
Kim Tae-geun, Director of the Digital Innovation Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through the Gyeonggi Province-type smart factory establishment support project, sales and employment of small and medium-sized enterprises have increased," and added, "We will review the effects of this year’s support project and strengthen the project by 2025 to help improve productivity and create safer workplaces."
