This memorial project is conducted annually with a budget of 200 million KRW, providing 10 million KRW in living support funds per household to the families of fallen police officers whose deaths were recognized as duty-related. The remaining funds from the project contributions are donated to the ‘100 Won Miracle’ project at the end of the year.

The Lotte Scholarship Foundation began a scholarship program in 2019 for children of fallen and injured police officers, and has supported a total of 905 children with 1.927 billion KRW up to this year.

The National Police Agency is striving to enhance the dignity of uniformed police officers through legal and institutional improvements such as implementing the presumed injury system reflecting police duty characteristics, realizing support for injury treatment costs including nursing fees, and extending the payment period for special consolation money for hazardous duty injuries.

Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, emphasized, “Private sector interest and support for fallen police officers carry even greater significance as it means the public directly remembers the sacrifices of heroes.”
