Dongmyung University (President Ho-Hwan Jun) announced on the 16th that it recently signed a business agreement with Wacom Korea, the Korean branch of the global tablet specialist company Wacom (CEO Juhyung Kim), to foster global leaders in the digital creative field and establish state-of-the-art educational infrastructure.
The signing ceremony, held on the 12th, was attended by President Ho-Hwan Jun, CEO Juhyung Kim, Dean Heeseung Lee of Dongmyung University College of Media, Secretary General Hwayoung Ryu, Head of the Department of Webtoon and Animation Cheolho Lee, Professor Kyuhwa Jung, CEO Changwon Yang of Big Pine Animation Studio, and other related officials.
President Ho-Hwan Jun stated, "The Department of Webtoon and Animation at Dongmyung University was newly established last year. We are nurturing creative talents focused on practical field experience by providing top-level creative equipment and building an industry-academia cooperation governance structure for hands-on education. Through this industry-academia partnership, we will establish an advanced educational system and infrastructure to produce the best convergence-type talents who will lead the global cultural content industry."
CEO Juhyung Kim said, "As K-content, including webtoons and games, is globalizing, it has become extremely important to cultivate talents who will lead the future cultural content industry. Through active cooperation with Dongmyung University, we will provide multifaceted support for nurturing talents who will lead the future creative industry."
The Department of Webtoon and Animation at Dongmyung University became the first among all university webtoon and animation departments nationwide last year to introduce more than 60 units of Wacom's premium display tablet 'Cintiq Pro 27' and dedicated stands, which are used by professional artists such as webtoon creators and illustrators, establishing a top-level educational studio in Korea.
Dongmyung University and Wacom Korea are signing an agreement to foster global leaders in the field of digital creation.
