Dong-A University and Dongseo University-Busan Global City Foundation Sign Agreement for 'Establishing Busan as a Global Hub City' Dong-A University and Dongseo University are signing a business agreement with the Busan Global City Foundation to establish Busan as a global hub city.

The signing ceremony, held on the 15th at the Busan Global City Foundation Exchange Room located in the Busan Regional Headquarters of the National Pension Service in Yeonje-gu, Busan, was attended by President Lee, President Jang, CEO Jeon, Park Hyuntae (Director of External and International Affairs at Dong-A University), Han Kyungho (Director of International Affairs at Dongseo University), Hwang Kihyun (Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation at Dongseo University), Lee Chiwoo (Director of International Exchange at Busan Global City Foundation), Kim Seokho (Director of English Broadcasting at Busan Global City Foundation), and other officials from the three organizations.

Through this agreement, Dong-A University, Dongseo University, and the Busan Global City Foundation will establish the “Ji-San-Hak Busan Innovative Global (BIG) Network” to create a global hub city in Busan. They will collaborate to strengthen the global competitiveness of the city and universities, attract international talent, and connect these efforts to local settlement.

The Busan Global City Foundation was launched in July last year through the merger of the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation and the Busan English Broadcasting Foundation. It is a public diplomacy institution specializing in branding “Glocal (Global + Local) Busan.” The foundation promotes private exchanges with major cities worldwide, supports the settlement of foreigners living in Busan, and carries out media projects to create an “English-friendly city.”

President Lee Haewoo stated, “Dong-A University has proactively pursued internationalization strategies since the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to have 2,500 international students next year. We will do our best to be officially designated as a Glocal University 30 and to successfully implement the project, contributing to strengthening Busan’s competitiveness as Asia’s No. 1 global education hub.”

President Jang Jeguk said, “Dongseo University will focus on attracting and educating many international students, especially in the fields of cultural content and art & design, where we have particular strengths, and will work to increase the retention rate of international students. We look forward to greater synergy through cooperation with the Busan Global City Foundation.”

CEO Jeon Yongwoo commented, “The Busan Global City Foundation is working to establish the infrastructure, systems, and cultural environment necessary for Busan to become a true global hub city, and is discovering and developing related projects. We will do our utmost to support the official designation of Glocal University 30, promoted jointly by Dong-A University and Dongseo University, to the best of our ability.”
