The Ministry and SEMAS discussed the rapid implementation of the comprehensive measures for small business owners and the self-employed announced by the government on the 3rd, focusing on the progress of SEMAS-led projects and future implementation plans. SEMAS has been responding to on-site support for small business owners and traditional markets through initiatives such as ‘financial support including repayment extension, refinancing loans, and funds for low-credit small business owners,’ ‘electricity bill support,’ ‘smart technology dissemination,’ ‘Hope Return Package,’ ‘expanded support for the New Start Fund,’ ‘expanded issuance of Onnuri gift certificates,’ ‘fostering entrepreneurial small business owners,’ and ‘support for expanding sales channels including exports.’
According to the government’s new measures, SEMAS will provide tailored support including ‘relief of small business owners’ cost burdens through a three-part financial support package and strengthening social safety nets,’ ‘building a sales base through Onnuri gift certificates and revitalization of local commercial districts,’ ‘smart and digital transformation of small business owners and traditional markets and scale-up support for entrepreneurial small business owners,’ ‘expansion of sales channels through exports and joint festivals,’ ‘debt adjustment through New Start Fund support,’ and ‘employment and re-startup support.’
Additionally, by the last week of this month, SEMAS will establish a one-stop platform for small business policy information, centered on its 8 regional headquarters and 77 regional centers, enabling small business owners to easily access policy information and receive guidance on necessary services all at once.
Park Sung-hyo, Chairman of SEMAS, stated, “As the dedicated support agency for small business owners, traditional markets, and shopping districts that sustain our country’s livelihood economy, SEMAS has the duty to ensure that no demand goes unmet due to lack of government policy support. We will engage actively in field operations.” He added, “We will communicate and collaborate thoroughly with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and all employees will unite to do their best to ensure the successful implementation of the comprehensive measures for small business owners and the self-employed.”
