Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Solutions
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that it will launch the "Everyday Mental Health Self-Check Project with Baekgu (109)" to address suicide prevention and mental health issues, which are emerging as significant social problems.
This project was planned to widely promote the necessity of suicide prevention and mental health improvement, and to provide easily accessible counseling and screening services.
The public health center will produce and attach stickers with suicide prevention counseling phone numbers and mental health screening QR codes at schools, public institutions, hospitals, major convenience facilities, and neighborhood parks (restrooms) throughout the city.
By scanning the mental health screening QR code on the sticker, users will be directed to the self-assessment screening link for each eligible group at the Gyeongsangnam-do Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center. Through the self-check, individuals can assess their current condition and, if necessary, be connected to professional counseling services.
Institutions or individuals who wish to receive these stickers, which are produced in a 170×100mm size, can apply to the Sacheon City Public Health Center. The requested stickers will be distributed sequentially starting from August 1, 2024.
A representative from the public health center stated, "This initiative is being promoted to make it easier for people at risk of suicide to access counseling services," adding, "By raising awareness of mental health issues within the local community, we hope to contribute to suicide prevention."
