Lee Sanggeun, Governor of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, conducted an on-site inspection of landslide-prone areas and erosion control construction sites within the county.
The inspection, carried out on the 15th, was conducted to prepare for heavy rains and typhoons during the summer monsoon season. The governor visited landslide-prone areas with potential risks to human life and erosion control construction sites to establish disaster prevention measures and check the implementation of safety protocols.
The main inspection points included: ▲ identifying risk factors and on-site safety management around landslide-prone areas ▲ checking drainage facilities near vulnerable areas ▲ inspecting safety management at construction sites in preparation for heavy rainfall.
Governor Lee stated, "With the recent abnormal weather conditions, the risk of disasters such as heavy rains and typhoons is very high. Therefore, we will strengthen patrols not only in landslide-prone areas but also in regions adjacent to forests, establish an emergency contact system for resident evacuation, and inspect shelters to do our utmost to protect the lives and property of county residents from landslides."
Meanwhile, Goseong County has designated and officially announced 137 landslide-prone areas and is managing 361 households and 591 residents living nearby. To ensure swift evacuation in case of landslide warnings or advisories, the county has implemented safety measures such as attaching evacuation shelter guide stickers to every household for the first time in the province.
