SK Telecom has made a $200 million (approximately 280 billion KRW) investment in SGH, a U.S.-based AI data center integration solutions company.

On the 16th, SKT announced that it signed a convertible preferred stock investment agreement worth $200 million with SGH and plans to secure about a 10% stake through future conversion to common stock.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, USA, SGH is a specialized company that designs, builds, and operates AI clusters composed of large-scale GPU servers, providing 'AI data center integration solutions.' It has gained attention for building large-scale AI clusters for global companies such as Meta.
This investment is the largest among SKT’s AI investments. Through this investment, SKT has secured a strong ally for entering the global AI data center market.
Founded in 1988, SGH’s core business is AI data center integration solutions. This includes ▲designing AI clusters composed of thousands to tens of thousands of GPUs ▲installing and optimizing performance of servers, racks, networks, and storage ▲monitoring and maintaining AI clusters, covering the entire process from design to construction and operation of AI clusters.
In addition, SGH operates businesses such as edge solutions specialized for industrial sites and memory modules. It was listed on NASDAQ in 2017, and last year SGH recorded sales of approximately $1.44 billion (about 2 trillion KRW).
The two companies plan to further specify their cooperation by signing an additional partnership this year, covering the entire AI infrastructure business area including AI data centers, edge AI, and future memory solutions.
SKT stated, "If SGH’s AI cluster construction and operation capabilities are combined with data center management systems and immersion cooling solutions, the synergy effect will be multiplied," adding, "We also plan to jointly develop a 'Telco Edge AI Solution' that integrates communication infrastructure and AI with industrial specialized edge solutions."
