Dongjak-gu and Chung-Ang University Hold Summer Vacation Coding Camp for Youth

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 16th that it will operate differentiated programs utilizing the excellent infrastructure of universities for local youth.

The district will hold the "Summer Vacation Coding Camp with Chung-Ang University" on July 12-13. The camp will be divided into two classes: the "Micro:bit Coding Course" for elementary school students in grades 4-6, and "Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence" for middle and high school students.

Career mentoring with Chung-Ang University Software Department students will be conducted, and professors will give high-quality special lectures tailored to the students' level. The education fee is completely free, and any elementary, middle, or high school student residing in Dongjak-gu or attending school in the district can apply.

Starting at 10 a.m. on the 16th of this month, a total of 40 students will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis: 20 elementary students in grades 4-6 and 20 middle and high school students. Applications can be submitted through the Daebang Youth Culture House website.

Additionally, at 2 p.m. on the 20th, the "3rd Dongjak S-Class" will be held at the Sadang 2-dong Community Center. Dongjak S-Class is a career exploration program where Seoul National University students coach local youth on study habits, college entrance exam preparation tips, and more.

This time, eight students from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at Seoul National University and about 20 middle and high school students from the district will participate, forming small groups with similar interests by topic and grade level to conduct mentoring on managing school records, preparing for early and regular admissions, and other subjects.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, "Through the operation of Dongjak's unique educational programs, we will work to eliminate educational disparities within the region and lead the revitalization of public education," adding, "We will continue to promote various policies to advance as a city that values education."
