The Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project launch ceremony was held on the 15th with about 80 participants, including licensed real estate agents from the province.
Gyeonggi Province is launching the ‘Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project’ to prevent Jeonse-related damages, working together with 30,000 licensed real estate agents in the province.
On the 15th, Gyeonggi Province held the launch ceremony for the ‘Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project’ at the provincial office, attended by a total of 80 people including Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Urban Housing; Yoo Young-il, Chair of the Urban Environment Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council; Park Tae-won, President of the Korea Association of Realtors Gyeonggi Southern Branch; Jeong Gyeong-beom, President of the Gyeonggi Northern Branch; regional representatives of the association; and officials from cities, counties, and districts, along with a video greeting from Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon.
The Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project is divided into two main initiatives: the ‘Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Campaign,’ a voluntary and social cooperation effort by licensed real estate agents, and the operation of a public-private joint ‘Safe Jeonse Management Team.’
The Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Campaign is a voluntary movement by licensed real estate agents who commit to establishing and participating in practical tasks to prevent Jeonse damages, aiming to create a trustworthy real estate transaction environment for residents.
The specific practical tasks include ▲not brokering risky properties ▲providing accurate property information to tenants ▲checking the realtor’s checklist for preventing Jeonse damages ▲providing tenants with a checklist to prevent Jeonse damages ▲disclosing the status of employees at real estate offices ▲notifying changes in contract information such as rights relations via text message service ▲and notifying about malicious landlords.
Gyeonggi Province will distribute ‘Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper’ stickers to participating licensed real estate agents starting in the second half of this year.
Additionally, to respond to illegal activities such as Jeonse fraud, the province will operate the ‘Safe Jeonse Management Team.’
The Safe Jeonse Management Team is the largest prevention organization nationwide, consisting of 916 members including officials from the provincial office, city and county governments, and representatives from the Korea Association of Realtors.
They will encourage participation in the Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Campaign, manage its activities, and monitor the real estate market by sharing and utilizing on-site information from frontline licensed real estate agents. Through this, the management team and local governments will conduct joint inspections and proactively respond to illegal activities in the real estate sector.
Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Urban Housing, stated, "This project is meaningful as a voluntary participation movement by licensed real estate agents to prevent damages such as Jeonse fraud. We will strive to overcome institutional limitations through public-private cooperation to foster a safe Jeonse contract culture and establish a trustworthy real estate transaction environment."
