'Golf Emperor' Woods Appears at The Open Course

The "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA) has appeared at this year's final major tournament, The Open Championship.

On the 14th (local time), the American sports media ESPN reported, "Woods played an 18-hole practice round at the Royal Troon Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland, the venue for this year's Open Championship." Woods has won The Open three times, in 2000, 2005, and 2006. On this day, he toured the course with his caddie, Lance Bennett, focusing mainly on chip shots, putting, and bunker shots.

This is Woods' first time competing in a tournament held at Royal Troon Golf Club in 20 years since the 2004 Open Championship. He finished tied for 9th place in the 2004 Open. Royal Troon Golf Club also hosted The Open in 2016, but Woods was unable to participate due to injury. Ahead of this tournament, Woods plans to walk the course about two more times with Justin Thomas, Max Homa (both from the USA), and others.

This year, Woods has participated in four PGA Tour events, finishing 60th at the Masters in April, and missing the cut at the PGA Championship in May and the US Open in June. His most recent tournament was the US Open about a month ago. It is highly likely that Woods will conclude his official tournament appearances for the year with The Open, which will be held over four days starting on the 18th.
